A Legal Dilemma

It was truly his feline, and for certain her bag,
With no libel to the headlines in this day’s local rag;
Of conspiratorial proportions, the circumstantial suppositions,
That may quiver the foundations of our legal traditions.
But a conundrum this case, when examined to the core,
An enigma for trial in a court of just law ;
Yet we shall prove, beyond all nagging doubt,
That neither is guilty of letting the proverbial cat out.
